Packaging System Case Study: Multi-Component
Retail Packaging System
A fully integrated packaging system developed using real-world dielines, prepress workflows, and vendor-ready production specifications

Project Overview
This project involved the design and production of a multi-component physical packaging system for a premium retail release. The deliverable included multiple formats housed within a unified outer structure, requiring coordination of layout systems, dielines, and production specifications.
The packaging was developed for physical retail and direct-to-consumer distribution, with an emphasis on structural clarity, visual hierarchy, and production accuracy across all components. Designed to support multi-SKU product lines and repeatable production workflows.
Packaging System Components
The system includes multiple interrelated components designed to function cohesively as a single retail product:
• Rigid 2-piece outer box
• Gatefold LP sleeve with 16-page book
• Trifold CD digipak with 16-page book
• Blu-ray package
• Deluxe 36-page perfect bound 12” x 12” book
• Poster
• Certificate of authenticity
• Turntable Slipmat
• Custom disc labels across all formats
Each component was developed independently while maintaining consistency across the full system.
The system was structured to support scalable adaptation across formats and product variations.

Dieline-Based Design & Structural Planning
Packaging systems are developed using manufacturer-supplied dielines and adapted to meet production specifications. Files are prepared with precise panel structure, fold relationships, and alignment to ensure accurate assembly and consistent results across formats. Layouts were developed and refined through iterative adjustments to meet production requirements and format constraints.

Format Adaptation & System Consistency
Packaging systems are adapted across formats while maintaining consistent visual hierarchy and structure. Layouts are reformatted to accommodate scale differences while preserving alignment, spacing, and overall design integrity.
